What Should i expect?

Our service at 10:00 a.m. includes singing and Bible teaching. Our singing is an act of worship to God; feel free to sit, stand, or dance. This is followed by a practical 30 minute message that is life-giving.

You'll see everything from jeans to suits. River Church is for everyone!

If you have children (from birth to 6th grade), they can participate in our fun and safe Children's Ministry during the service.

Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in our family room. Come early or stay late to enjoy fellowship with others.

OUr Pastor

  • Jeff Baxter, Lead Pastor

Family: Laurie (wife), Lillian, Levi, Lara and Lindor (our chocolate Lab)

Background: I love my family and I have been in ministry two decades inside and outside the local church in Indiana and Colorado loving and caring for all ages. I attended Hope College (B.A.), Columbia International University (M.Div.), and Fuller Theological Seminary (D.Min.). I love to preach the Bible, cast compelling vision, read all about ministry, lead tours to Israel and write on the things that matter most. My family loves Colorado (Go Rapids! Go Broncos!) and get to the great outdoors to hike.

  • Kyle Greenwood, family ministries director

Family: Karen (wife), Stephen, Jessica, and Michael

Background: I have been working with teens and young adults for the better part of three decades, whether in vocational ministry, as a lay leader, or most recently in Christian higher education. I earned a B.A. from the University of Cincinnati, the M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary, and the Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near Eastern Studies from Hebrew Union College. Part of my calling to the body of Christ has been to contribute to the intellectual life of the church, having written three books, teaching in several colleges and seminaries, and am currently working on a commentary on the book of Job. My family moved from Indiana to Colorado ten years ago and we thoroughly enjoy its massive playground, especially downhill skiing and hiking with our black lab Ace.

  • Michael Bennett, worship Director

Family: Jamie (Wife), Harry, Ollie, and Finn

Background: I have been involved in pastoral ministry for the better part of the last decade in churches throughout Northern and Central Colorado. A native to Colorado, I started leading worship in my hometown of Loveland as a worship intern. From there, God has placed me in some amazing church communities to grow, learn, and shepherd those around me. When I’m not leading or playing a gig somewhere, you’ll most likely find me cruising around on my motorcycle, fishing, or out and about with the fam!

  • Laurie baxter, Children's Director

Family: Jeff (husband), Lillian, Levi, Lara and Lindor (our chocolate Lab)

Background: I'm a teacher, pastor’s wife and mama to three. I graduated with honors at Columbia International University receiving degrees in Bible and Early/Elementary Education. I have a passion for God’s Word and desire for others to know the whole of scripture, regardless of age or experience. I firmly believe Christ can redeem and transform any life for His glory! My passion for the Word comes alive in my simple approach and enthusiasm while teaching, all relating back to my love for Jesus. I boldly love my family and help support my husband, Jeff, lead pastor at River Church, while parenting three children in elementary, middle and high schools (just when one stage is over, another one is entering). In my spare moments and in order to recharge, I can usually be found outdoors running a trail, walking our chocolate lab, or finding a good bargain.

  • Gennette brink, administrator

Family:  Michael (husband),  mother of 2 sons Daniel and Andrew, step mother of 2 sons Joshua and Matthew.  Grandmother of 6 beautiful children.

Background: I put my trust in Jesus at 15yrs old and fully surrendered my life at age 25.  I attended Colorado Christian University,   became a member of our church (1987), taught special needs children, and love serving my wonderful family!  I have attended and lead many bible studies. I am passionate about serving the poor and leading others to the Jesus.   My hobbies are cooking,  babysitting my grandchildren,  and spending quality time with the Lord and my family.

core values

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, these core values bring clarity to the things that matter most at River Church. They guide how we achieve our vision, influencing major leadership decisions, as well as everyday ministry plans. They even help us navigate staffing and budget issues. In short, they keep us focused on the unique call God has given us as a local church.

Worship is a lifestyle, not just a church service!

Discipleship is to become more like Jesus.

Teaching is for encouragement, challenge and life change.

We need to grow larger and smaller at the same time.

There is a place for everyone to volunteer on a ministry team.

We change methods, but never the message.

While all families are different, all families can be spiritually strengthened.

the poor matter to God, so they matter to us.

We are a family expecting guests.

Every person matters to God.

Our beliefs

The Bible is God's word to all people. It was written by human authors under supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has externally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God, called the "Trinity".

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended into Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. Christians seek to live under his control daily.

Man and Woman are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. He is the supreme object of God's creation. Although man and woman have tremendous potential for good, they are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin". This attitude separates humans from God.

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ, as God's offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God, through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God places a person in Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in a place called Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence forever.
