Professional
My expertise is with trauma, anxiety, stress, grief, and depression. I have also worked closely with clients in addiction recovery and recognize that many addictions are rooted in the pain of trauma, physiological, and even environmental factors. I have a passion for helping others and sharing God's love. I believe after many years in my own darkness, He restores HOPE to people even when hope has been lost. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and embrace the philosophy of people doing well if they can. My therapeutic approach is to explore what is getting in the way and inspire creative and realistic steps to heal and change negative thinking and behavior patterns. I have over 20 years experience helping families restore relationships, manage conflict and deal with stress or unexpected events. I focus on building skills to help manage emotional regulation, improve relationships, decrease impulsive behaviors, and build confidence while improving self-esteem. I create a safe place to process challenging emotions or circumstances. I believe that sometimes we just need to "art it out" or "jump it out" or "run it out." Sometimes therapy means just having a safe place to be more than the negative label someone else puts on us. We can reclaim and reinvent our identity in a place of unconditional acceptance and belonging. I am licensed in 2 states and have over 12 years as a therapist. I offer a personalized, strength-based and trauma-informed approach, helping clients tap into their own resiliency and inspire new beginnings.
About me
I grew up in rural Oregon and after a few cross country moves, landed in the state of Colorado in 1991. I am the mother of 2 young adults. Over a span of 25 years, I have weathered the storms of a failed business, failed marriage, co-parenting, finishing graduate school, the death of my father, and more. There was a time in my life, where I had not done the work to heal through my own past, and know only too well what happens when fear, anxiety, depression, and more is not managed in a healthy way. I am grateful for an amazing therapist who shared my healing journey through past trauma, grief, family addiction, and more.
